Enjoys Working with:

  • Adults - All Ages

  • Couples
  • 2SLGBTQIA+ Community

Sunny Qiu (she/her) is a Registered Social Worker and therapist passionate about helping people find calm, confidence, and connection in their lives. She specializes in supporting individuals who are kind to everyone but themselves, those who care deeply for others yet struggle to show the same compassion inward.

Sunny helps clients work through anxiety, trauma, self-criticism, people-pleasing, emotional overwhelm, and relationship challenges. She also works with couples who love each other but feel stuck, helping them rebuild trust, communicate openly, heal from past hurts, and strengthen emotional intimacy.

Authenticity, Humility, and Dignity in Therapy

Sunny offers a calm, compassionate space where clients can feel fully accepted without judgment. She believes healing begins when people feel truly seen, heard, and understood. Her work focuses on helping clients who want to understand parts of themselves that feel anxious, avoidant, or self-critical. These parts have been trying to protect them for a long time. Through this process, Sunny helps clients work with themselves rather than against themselves, fostering curiosity, kindness, and self-compassion.

Her approach is gentle, relational, and trauma-informed, integrating EMDR, DBT, CBT, parts work (IFS-informed), mindfulness, and the Gottman Method for couples. Drawing from Polyvagal Theory, she helps clients regulate their nervous systems, reduce emotional triggers, and feel safe in their bodies.

Relational Therapist & Clinical Insight

With years of training and experience in psychology, she holds both a Master of Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of British Columbia. Sunny combines insight with practical tools to help clients understand what’s happening in their brain, body, and mind in clear and meaningful ways. While guiding them
from reactivity and self-blame toward resilience, balance, and self-trust.

Celebrating Difference: Support for 2SLGBTQIA+ and Immigrant Experiences
