Common symptoms of anxiety are:
Physical Symptoms:
- restlessness, difficulty sitting still
- feeling easily fatigued or physically weak
- muscle tension especially neck and shoulders and tension-related symptoms such as TMJ , headache, or irritable bowel syndrome
- lump in the throat
- vague nausea or stomach ache
- chest pain
Emotional Symptoms:
- being on edge or irritable
- short temper
- depressed mood
- tendency toward frustration; or agitation or frustration resulting in “do it my way” or “I give up” responses when challenged
Mental Symptoms:
- preoccupation with anxious thoughts that interfere with attention to present moment
- poor focus
- constant worry which may change its target, that is worry about one thing at one moment and something else the next
- anxiety about one’s health
