Yannis (he/him) is a CCPA certified counsellor and a graduate of Middlesex University in London, UK. Before moving to Canada, Yannis started his career as a support worker in community mental health services and, subsequently, trained as an accredited counsellor with experience in post-secondary education and other professional settings.

In the last ten years, Yannis has helped many adults overcome life challenges and transitions, ranging from a crisis to a general feeling that something does not quite fit. For such change to occur, Yannis facilitates in his practice a warm, non-judgmental and personable environment, where clients can feel safe, validated, and listened to. He gently approaches clients’ experience with curiosity and offers his own reflections, only when deemed appropriate, to help them look at situations from different perspectives. Yannis believes that self-understanding can be co-created through relating with others.

Yannis’ counselling training is at its core Client-centered and Experiential, but he also pulls from a number of other modalities and interventions including, psychodynamic psychotherapy, Solution-focused, Focusing-Oriented, Attachment theory, Mindfulness, Phenomenology, somatic processing, and ACT.

In addition to his counselling work, Yannis has supervised trainee counsellors, offered training, and facilitated experiential reflective groups to both students and staff in various settings. He hopes that he will be able to use this experience to facilitate support systems in our local community and learn more from others’ experience in the process.

In accordance with the requirements of his certification Yannis attends regular clinical supervision and adheres to the CCPA Code of Ethics.

In his personal life, Yannis enjoys a busy family life, baking, reading, and the outdoors.  You might occasionally bump into him whilst visiting local farms or exploring one of the numerous trails in North Okanagan.
